Lucknow, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : On September 5, Lucknow’s former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav targeted the Uttar Pradesh government, calling for the reopening of primary schools that have been shut down. Speaking on Teacher’s Day, he emphasized that education is crucial for fostering social and political awareness among marginalized and underprivileged communities.
In alignment with this message, the Samajwadi Party (SP) is organizing a campaign named “Pathshala Pukare” across the state on this day. The campaign’s slogan is “When closed schools reopen, the PDA will study,” highlighting the importance of education in empowering disadvantaged groups.
Akhilesh took to social media platform X to share a poster criticizing the government. He pointed out that the BJP government has closed 26,000 primary schools in Uttar Pradesh. The SP’s initiative aims to convey the message that reopening these schools is essential for the education of the youth.
Akhilesh reiterated that the core sentiment behind this initiative is to prioritize education. He believes that education will cultivate social and political consciousness in oppressed and marginalized communities, challenging the dominance of the privileged and promoting equality. He envisions a “Raj of Social Justice” based on equity and harmony, fulfilling the commitment to a united society.
Earlier, Akhilesh had stated that if his party comes to power, they would reopen the over 26,000 primary schools that were closed. He accused the BJP government of neglecting education by shutting down public schools, which adversely affects students from economically weaker sections. He asserted that education is key to raising awareness and strengthening the movement for equality and social justice.
