Pedro Martinez Clinches Singles Title at Bengaluru Open 2026

In the 10th edition of the Bengaluru Open 2026, top seed Pedro Martinez emerged victorious in the singles category, while the doubles crown was claimed by the pairing of Colombia’s Nicolas Barrientos and America’s Benjamin Kitte.

Martinez defeated Kazakhstan’s Timofey Skatov in the singles final with a scoreline of 7-6(5), 6-3, securing the title along with a cash prize of 33,650 US dollars.

In doubles, the duo of Nicolas Barrientos and Benjamin Kitte overcame the French team of Arthur Rémond and Luca Sanchez 7-6(9), 7-5 to win the championship, earning 9,900 US dollars in prize money.

Challenging Conditions Mark Singles Final

The final, held at the S M Krishna Tennis Stadium, faced interruptions due to rain. During the match, Martinez was close to an early break in the third game of the first set, but Skatov’s resilient defence kept the contest tight. Skatov raised his level in the ninth game, winning long rallies with strong returns, yet Martinez maintained composure and applied pressure in the following game.

Skatov saved several set points in a prolonged hold and pushed the set into a tie-break. Martinez capitalised on some unforced errors from Skatov to take the first set. Continuing his momentum, Martinez broke Skatov’s serve early in the second set and played precise shots along the lines. Despite Skatov’s efforts to stay in the match, the former top-40 player secured another break in the ninth game to clinch the match, earning 125 ATP ranking points.

Doubles Final Witnesses Intense Battle

The doubles final started strongly with Rémond and Sanchez breaking serve in the fourth game of the first set. However, Barrientos and Kitte quickly recovered and both teams held their serves, leading to a tie-break. After a closely contested tie-break, Barrientos and Kitte edged ahead with a series of excellent returns to win the set.

The second set mirrored the first in intensity. Barrientos and Kitte lost their serve early but bounced back with a break. Both teams displayed solid service games with few unforced errors. In the twelfth game, despite a strong smash from Barrientos-Kitte, Rémond-Sanchez’s defence kept them in the match. Eventually, a crucial double fault by Rémond gave Barrientos and Kitte the decisive break to secure the doubles title.

The Bengaluru Open 2026 concluded with impressive performances from international players, highlighting the growing prominence of the tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour.
