PDP Urged to Investigate Past Recruitments, Current Government Ready: Sakina Ittoo

Srinagar, June 21: Jammu and Kashmir’s Education Minister, Sakina Ittoo, criticized the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, stating that the opposition should first demand an investigation into recruitments made over the last decade.

Ittoo dismissed allegations related to recruitments and outsourcing, asserting that if the PDP is calling for an investigation into recent recruitments, they should also seek an inquiry into all appointments made in the past ten years.

Speaking to reporters during the International Yoga Day celebrations at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, the minister emphasized that the current government has nothing to hide and is fully prepared to face any investigation.

Responding to questions from journalists, Ittoo stated, “If the PDP wants an investigation into recruitments, they should first call for an inquiry into all appointments made in the last ten years.”

She clarified that the allegations against the government are unfounded and noted that the outsourcing system was not initiated by the current administration.

“It is a practice that has been ongoing, and the current government cannot be held accountable for policies that were initiated before its term,” she added.

Ittoo reiterated that the government is committed to transparency and accountability as top priorities.

Her comments come amid ongoing political debates regarding recruitment processes and outsourcing policies in various government departments.

She emphasized that the government is dedicated to ensuring fairness and transparency in all administrative matters.

The PDP has been critical of the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) government for allegedly failing to provide employment opportunities for qualified unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir.

The PDP has also criticized the NC government for involving external agencies in preparing question papers for written examinations, claiming that these often leak, undermining the credibility of the recruitment process.
