Hyderabad, June 5: Amid ongoing controversy regarding his recent statements about Telangana, Andhra Pradesh‘s Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan clarified on Thursday that he has never supported any politics aimed at destabilizing the region.
He asserted that his position regarding the interests of Telangana and its people has always remained consistent.
In a post on the social media platform X, Kalyan acknowledged concerns about law and order following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. However, he clearly opposed the implementation of Section 8, believing it would undermine the self-respect and self-governance rights of the people of Telangana.
Kalyan emphasized that respecting the aspirations and rights of Telangana’s citizens is as crucial as addressing the security concerns of those in Andhra Pradesh. He argued that instead of enforcing provisions like Section 8, a special coordination mechanism, parliamentary oversight, and measures to build mutual trust between the two states would provide more constructive and lasting solutions.
“I have never supported politics that destabilizes Telangana. I have always believed that the interests of the people of both Telugu states should be protected through mutual respect, peace, cooperation, and a spirit of brotherhood,” he stated.
His comments during a press conference on Telangana Formation Day (June 2) were met with strong criticism from leaders of various political parties.
Following the police’s refusal to grant permission for a public gathering due to concerns of potential unrest, the Jana Sena leader addressed the press conference.
In another post, Kalyan mentioned that in 2008, he had planned a robust youth wing structure for the Praja Rajyam Party’s youth branch, Yuva Rajyam.
He expressed gratitude to the youth wing of Telangana Yuva Rajyam and especially thanked those who have supported him since 2005. He committed to nurturing young, energetic leaders filled with integrity, dedication, and patriotism.
Kalyan further stated, “New India will witness the rise of remarkable leaders from generation to generation. This generation is weary of appeasement politics, dynastic politics, caste politics, divisive politics, and regional politics. They seek leaders who will take responsibility and restore accountable governance, not those who weaken India on global platforms. They aspire for a strong and empowered India.”
