New Delhi, July 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a video message late Thursday night, assuring the youth and the general public that the government is committed to taking strict action regarding the paper leak issue. A draft related to this matter will be presented in the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday.
PM Modi acknowledged that the paper leak is not a trivial issue. It has caused significant distress for millions of students and their parents. Over the past two and a half months, numerous measures have been implemented to address the situation. The culprits have been apprehended and are currently in jail. Our primary responsibility was to ensure that students do not lose a year of their education.
He emphasized the necessity of conducting immediate examinations. The government mobilized all resources to arrange for the exams of at least 2.2 million students in the shortest possible time. Results were announced just five to six days ago, on the 19th. Reports of successful students celebrating their achievements have been pouring in from across the country. However, we are not among those who settle for mere satisfaction. Therefore, I directed the departments today to work diligently, and they submitted their drafts late at night. The Cabinet will discuss the draft, which includes provisions for fast-track courts and stringent penalties.
PM Modi stated that the draft will be finalized after considering suggestions from Cabinet colleagues. The second week of Parliament begins on Monday, and efforts will be made to pass this bill in the House as soon as possible.
Earlier, PM Modi had posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating that the welfare and future of the youth are our top priorities. Fast-track courts will be established to ensure swift punishment for those guilty in all paper leak cases. Instructions have been issued to ensure that the relevant departments take necessary actions.
He further noted that these decisions are significant steps in safeguarding the interests of students. Anyone who jeopardizes the future of the youth will not be spared.
