Panic Erupts in West Bengal Coal Mine After Sudden Influx of Water, Two Injured

Andal, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : A sudden influx of water into a coal mine in the Siduli area of Andal, located in West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman district, caused chaos among workers on October 5. Authorities swiftly evacuated the miners as a precautionary measure.

Reports indicate that two employees sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Eyewitnesses noted that water began to flood the mine from an unidentified underground source, triggering panic among the workers.

As soon as the situation was reported, mine officials acted quickly to ensure the safety of all personnel, successfully avoiding a potential disaster due to the relatively low number of workers present at the time.

The incident has raised concerns among residents living near the mine. Local inhabitants reported feeling tremors and hearing loud noises in certain areas close to the site. Fearing for their safety, some families chose to evacuate their homes, particularly those with children and elderly members.

Questions have arisen regarding a possible connection between the sudden water influx in the mine and the tremors and noises reported in nearby residential areas. However, officials have stated that an investigation is underway, and the true cause will be determined once it is completed.

Officials from Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) are closely monitoring the situation. They are investigating whether the water influx poses any significant danger and are also looking into the source of the vibrations and sounds reported by residents.
