Weather Shift in Dehradun: Yellow Alert Issued for Eight Districts

Dehradun, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Dehradun is experiencing a notable weather shift following the end of the monsoon season. The influence of a western disturbance has caused changes across various parts of Uttarakhand.

According to the meteorological department, eight districts are under a yellow alert, indicating the possibility of rain accompanied by winds gusting at 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Residents are advised to remain vigilant, especially those in open areas and sensitive regions, as sudden weather changes could pose risks.

On Monday, much of the state was partially cloudy, with light drizzles reported in several locations. This change in weather is expected to bring a drop in temperatures, particularly in the hilly areas where the impacts may be more pronounced than in the plains.

The weather department forecasts light to moderate rainfall across all districts of Uttarakhand over the next five days. Additionally, snowfall is anticipated in regions above 4,200 meters, which could lead to a rapid decrease in temperatures in those areas.

As of last Saturday, the monsoon officially departed from Uttarakhand, paving the way for this new weather pattern driven by the active western disturbance. Rain and snowfall in higher regions are expected in the coming days.

In light of these changes, local authorities and relevant departments are on alert. The risk of slippery roads and landslides increases during rain in mountainous areas. Furthermore, strong winds raise concerns about falling trees and power lines.

Currently, the weather in the state has shifted dramatically, and residents should prepare for rain, strong winds, and snowfall in higher elevations over the next few days. The meteorological department urges the public to stay updated on local forecasts and take necessary precautions.
