
Dubai, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The second semifinal of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 is underway in Dubai, where Pakistan is facing Sri Lanka. Batting first after losing the toss, Pakistan posted a total of 130 runs, losing five wickets in the process.
Pakistan’s innings began on a shaky note. Muniba Ali was dismissed for just 2 runs. Following her, Shawal Zulfiqar and Gul Firoza managed to add 24 runs for the second wicket in 16 balls. Zulfiqar scored 24 runs, including two fours and two sixes, before being sent back. Firoza contributed 21 runs before her dismissal.
Ayesha Jafar struggled to make an impact, scoring only 7 runs before falling to Chamari Athapaththu. Sadaf Shamas also had a quiet outing, departing after scoring 8 runs. However, captain Fatima Sana took charge in the later overs, delivering a commendable performance. She remained unbeaten on 47 runs off 36 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes. Alongside Tuba Hasan, who scored 12 not out, Fatima forged a crucial partnership of 38 runs for the sixth wicket off just 24 balls, helping Pakistan reach a respectable score.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers showcased their skills, with Chamudi Prabodha taking two wickets for just 25 runs in her four overs. Captain Chamari Athapaththu also impressed with her economical bowling, claiming two wickets while conceding only 24 runs. Sugandhika Kumari chipped in with one wicket for 20 runs.
Sri Lanka’s playing eleven included: Imesha Dulani, Chamari Athapaththu (captain), Sanjana Kavindi, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hasini Pereira, Kavisha Dilhari, Nilakshika Silva, Kaushini Nuthyangana (wicketkeeper), Sugandhika Kumari, Chamudi Prabodha, and Mithali Ayodhya.
