New Delhi, August 8: The Delhi Laxmi Scheme has seen significant engagement, with over 487,000 women registering on the portal by Friday night. According to an official, the exact registration count reached 487,181, while 199,679 final applications were submitted.
On Friday morning, following the scheme’s launch, women warmly welcomed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the assembly. Beneficiaries expressed their support for this initiative aimed at welfare and empowerment.
Addressing the assembly, the Chief Minister expressed her joy at fulfilling the government’s promises to the women of Delhi. “Today, I am happy for the women of Delhi, whose joy knows no bounds. I am pleased that we have kept our promise to empower them. I assure every woman that our government will always stand by them for their empowerment and safety,” she stated.
Delhi Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the implementation of the scheme while comparing governance models from different political parties. He remarked, “Look, Binod? Within a year, under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, a path has opened for our sisters in Delhi to receive ₹2,500. Those who showcase their IIT degrees and control Punjab remotely only spoke about women’s empowerment for vote-bank politics just three to four months before the elections. There is a significant difference between these governance models.”
Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited a Delhi Laxmi Scheme camp in Shalimar Bagh, where she interacted with women beneficiaries and gathered feedback about the initiative. She also assisted women with the registration process and signed several application forms. The camp received an overwhelming response, with women expressing their trust in the Delhi government’s initiative.
Many beneficiaries stated their confidence that the promises made during the elections are now being implemented at the grassroots level.
