Assam CM Praises Bodolands Development as Peace Agreement Conditions Are Met

Guwahati, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his congratulations to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government, led by Hagrama Mohilary, on completing one year in office. He emphasized that the “triple-engine” NDA government, present in Delhi, Dispur, and Kokrajhar, is accelerating development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

In a post on social media platform X, Sarma praised the BTC government and noted the collaborative efforts of the central, Assam, and BTR governments to foster rapid development in the area.

“Congratulations to the BTC government under Hagrama Mohilary for completing one year of service to the people of BTR,” he stated. Sarma highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government is diligently implementing every condition of the Bodo peace agreement, working to maintain peace and stability in the region.

The Chief Minister also outlined several welfare initiatives launched by the state government in BTR, including Arunoday, the Chief Minister’s Self-Reliant Assam Campaign (CMAAA), the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Campaign (MMUA), and free ration programs. “All welfare schemes from Arunoday to CMAAA, MMUA, and free rations are being implemented with full momentum in this area,” he added.

Sarma mentioned the state government’s approval of a special package worth ₹1,000 crore to enhance road infrastructure in BTR. He indicated that efforts are underway to establish the region as a manufacturing and logistics hub, which could open new avenues for investment, employment, and economic growth.

Since the signing of the Bodo peace agreement, initiatives to strengthen peace and accelerate development have been ongoing across the four districts of BTR—Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Tamulpur. The Chief Minister has consistently stated that implementing the agreement, along with infrastructure development and the delivery of welfare schemes, is essential for transforming the social and economic landscape of the region.

Sarma’s remarks also reflect the political significance of coordination between the BJP-led central and Assam governments and the BTC administration, presenting development and peace as two key pillars of the NDA’s vision for BTR.
