Over 160 NCC Cadets in Gujarat Receive Cyber Security Training

Gandhinagar, June 19: Over 160 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan have commenced a specialized cyber security training program at the National Defense University in Gandhinagar. The initiative aims to enhance cyber awareness among youth and strengthen their digital security capabilities.

The 12-day ‘Cyber Defender Course’ (CDC) is being held from June 18 to June 29. This program is organized in collaboration with the NCC Gujarat Directorate and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT).

Cadets from the Senior Division (SD) and Senior Wing (SW) are participating in this training. They will receive 60 hours of instruction from expert trainers and faculty members from NIELIT.

The course is being conducted under the guidance of Major General Bimal Monga, Additional Director General of NCC Gujarat Directorate. The program aims to equip cadets with practical knowledge and skills to identify and address cyber threats. It also encourages them to adopt responsible behavior in the digital realm.

Training will cover fundamental topics such as basic cyber security, principles of Linux, the CIA triad, ethical hacking, penetration testing, cyber laws and grievance mechanisms, mobile and smartphone security, protection against cyber fraud, digital banking security, and live cyber simulation exercises.

According to the organizers, this initiative is designed to prepare informed citizens who can recognize digital risks and promote safe and ethical behavior in the cyber world.

Alongside technical training, cadets will also learn about cyber ethics and the protection of the country’s digital assets.

The program was inaugurated by Rewaba Jadeja, Gujarat’s Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Adult Education. The National Defense University has provided the venue, academic infrastructure, training facilities, and other necessary arrangements for this training program.

Bimal Patel, the university’s Vice Chancellor, is overseeing this initiative, which aims to promote security education and capacity building. Lieutenant Ruchika Singla, CTO Yash Sharma, and other officials are assisting in the operation and arrangements of the training program.

Organizers emphasize that given the increasing use of digital services and online systems, this initiative is crucial for raising cyber security awareness and preparedness among youth.
