Beijing, July 11: On the evening of July 10, a significant number of Japanese citizens gathered in front of the National Diet Building in Tokyo to protest against several controversial policies and bills recently passed by the Sane Takaiichi government.
According to organizers, approximately 27,000 people attended the protest in person, while an additional 110,000 participated online. Demonstrators lined the sidewalks around the National Diet Building, chanting slogans such as “No more Sane Takaiichi’s tyranny” and “Japan must permanently renounce the use of force.” They collectively recited Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution, opposing the government’s disregard for public opinion and the implementation of policies perceived as a threat of war.
It is noteworthy that since the House of Representatives elections in February, the ruling party has exploited its majority in the chamber to push through laws, such as the establishment of a National Intelligence Council, while ignoring opposition from various sectors of society.
