During the demonstration, Harish Manwani, president of the Sindhu Sanskar Seva Samiti, stated that this incident is not just tragic for the Sindhi community but is also shocking and heartbreaking for the entire country. He warned that if needed, community members would go to Ahmedabad for a mass protest. He added, “Let the police keep their batons ready; we are prepared to break our bones, but our spirit will not break.”

The memorandum demanded the death penalty for the accused, registration of a case against the school management, demolition of the accused’s houses with bulldozers, financial assistance and a government job for the victim’s family, and assurance of their security. It also called for strengthening security in schools nationwide and banning weapons and non-vegetarian food on school premises.

A large gathering attended the memorandum submission, including representatives from various Sindhi temples and community institutions such as Dada Saheb Jhulelal Mandir, Sindhu Nagar, Sirakki Mohalla, Bapunagar, Shastri Nagar, Panchwati, and Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar, as well as business leaders and Jhulelal team members. All unanimously demanded the strictest punishment for the culprits and justice for the victim’s family.

Nayan, a class 10 student at Seventh Day School in Ahmedabad, was attacked on Sunday after school while leaving with his cousin. A minor dispute with another classmate escalated, and the accused student took out a knife from his bag and stabbed Nayan. Severely injured, Nayan was taken to hospital but died during treatment. This painful incident has raised serious questions about the education system. Members of the Bhilwara community said that such an incident could have been avoided with better school security. They warned that if swift action is not taken, a large-scale protest will be organised in Ahmedabad.
