Opposition Parties Losing Trust in Constitutional Institutions: Jayveer Singh

Mumbai, March 14: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Jayveer Singh addressed various national and political issues on Saturday. He spoke on the ongoing political debate surrounding Kanshiram’s legacy, the controversy over NCERT textbooks, the impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner, and the gas crisis amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel.

In an interview with a news agency, Singh stated that the opposition is raising unnecessary political issues while the government and institutions are fulfilling their constitutional duties.

Regarding the impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Singh criticized the opposition, suggesting that they are losing faith in constitutional institutions. He claimed that the opposition is merely trying to stay relevant in political headlines by raising such issues. Some Congress MPs have already been expelled from the Lok Sabha, and a recent no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker was also dismissed. Singh accused the opposition of repeatedly creating new controversies to remain in the spotlight, including the current impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner.

Addressing concerns over a potential shortage of gas and petrol due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, he assured that there is no shortage in the country. He emphasized that India is among the least affected countries during this period of global uncertainty.

Singh described this as a diplomatic success for India, noting that despite special circumstances, India maintains cordial relations with Iran. He mentioned that several ships carrying energy resources have already reached Indian ports. The minister assured that there will be no shortage of gas or other energy sources under any circumstances.

He stated that the central government is vigilant and sensitive, continuously monitoring the availability of essential goods. Strict actions are being taken against hoarders and black marketeers to prevent any inconvenience to the public.

Responding to the ongoing political claims between the Samajwadi Party and Congress regarding the legacy of Kanshiram, a leader of the Bahujan movement, Singh launched a sharp attack on Congress. He asserted that if Congress had delivered justice to the oppressed and marginalized during its rule, the Kanshiram movement would not have emerged.

According to him, despite ruling for a long time, Congress failed to provide these groups with their rightful status and respect, leading to societal discontent and giving new direction to the Dalit movement. He argued that this backdrop led to the rise of organizations like the Bahujan Samaj Party and BAMCEF under Kanshiram’s leadership. Singh demanded that Congress apologize to the nation for this historical failure.

On Priyanka Chaturvedi’s remarks in the Rajya Sabha regarding the removal of the chapter on ‘Corruption in the Judiciary’ from the NCERT textbook, which she labeled as ‘judicial tyranny,’ Singh responded by stating that the judiciary had ordered the removal of the chapter. He confirmed that all necessary procedures have been completed, and the affidavit related to this matter has been submitted to the Supreme Court. Singh urged the opposition not to express unnecessary concerns regarding any ongoing issues between the judiciary and the government, assuring that the final order of the court will be adhered to.
