New Delhi, July 29: Political tensions have escalated following Rahul Gandhi‘s speech in the Lok Sabha. Leaders from the Congress party and other opposition factions have rallied in support of Gandhi’s statements, targeting the central government and demanding accountability on various issues. They accused the government of attempting to silence Gandhi’s voice in Parliament and insisted that it must answer pressing questions.
Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala responded to Gandhi’s address, stating, “The entire matter falls under the responsibility of the Union Home Minister. He should acknowledge his duties before the nation and Parliament and apologize to the youth of the country. The government must address issues concerning the youth.”
Imran Pratapgarhi, another Congress MP, remarked, “The government had the numbers to pass the bill, but the atmosphere in Parliament revealed its fear. Attempts were made to silence Rahul Gandhi, with repeated interruptions during his speech. The opposition will continue to raise issues that matter to the public.”
Congress leader Pawan Khera also criticized the government, saying, “The incidents in question are the government’s responsibility. Who ordered the actions taken, and who is accountable? Since Rahul Gandhi did not take any action, there is no question of him needing to apologize.”
Gurjeet Singh Aujla, another Congress MP, defended Gandhi’s remarks, asserting, “There is no question of an apology. Rahul Gandhi articulates his points strongly, and the issues he raises are significant.” He also highlighted the ideological differences between the BJP and the opposition.
Manoj Kumar Jha, a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), supported Gandhi, questioning, “For what should Rahul Gandhi apologize? If actions have been taken, such as police brutality or the use of force, accountability must be established.”
Neeraj Maurya from the Samajwadi Party noted, “Opposition leaders were voicing their concerns, but the ruling party continuously interrupted them. The government does not want the proceedings of the House to run smoothly. Even senior leaders appealed for members to remain calm, but the situation did not improve.”
Kirti Azad from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) stated, “The opposition has demanded that a charge sheet be filed regarding the police action. Bills will come and go, but discussions on matters affecting the public are essential.”
Congress MLC Bhai Jagatap from Mumbai also expressed support for Gandhi, saying, “The government knows that Rahul Gandhi raises issues based on facts in Parliament. They are evading tough questions. Gandhi will continue to address concerns related to youth, farmers, laborers, unemployment, and other national issues, and the government must respond.”
The exchange of accusations between the ruling party and the opposition continues regarding Rahul Gandhi’s speech. While NDA leaders have expressed objections to his statements, Congress and opposition parties claim they are merely attempting to highlight public issues.
