Mumbai, August 30: In a dramatic police encounter in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, two suspects sustained gunshot wounds. The police successfully apprehended three criminals, while one managed to escape. During the incident, an inspector narrowly avoided injury from the suspects’ gunfire.
According to reports, the encounter occurred in the Motigarpur police station area while officers were attempting to capture long-wanted criminals. The suspects had previously shot a man named Vipin due to an old feud, and he is currently receiving treatment in Lucknow.
Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal stated that police received a tip-off about the suspects leaving on two motorcycles late Saturday night. Officers set up a blockade near the Ramapur Nahar Tirahe. Upon noticing the police, the criminals opened fire, narrowly missing Crime Inspector Chandrabhan Verma, who was hit in the shoulder.
In response, the police fired back, injuring Shivam Singh in his right leg and Ratan Nishad in his left leg. Both were arrested after the encounter. Another suspect, Satyam Gautam, was also taken into custody. The injured criminals are currently receiving treatment at the Motigarpur Community Health Center.
Meanwhile, Raman, a resident of Bariyarpur Dostpur, took advantage of the darkness to flee the scene. Police teams are actively searching for him. Authorities recovered a pistol, five cartridges, and a .315 bore firearm from the arrested suspects.
Vineet Jaiswal revealed that there has been a longstanding feud between the families of Shivam Singh and Indrasen Singh. Following a complaint from Vipin’s uncle, Dan Bahadur Singh, the police registered an attempted murder case against Vipin Singh and two unidentified individuals.
On the night of August 28, these three criminals allegedly attacked Vipin Singh, shooting him and causing severe injuries. He is currently being treated at King George Medical University in Lucknow.
