Jaipur, September 3: Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister, Premchand Baidya, has strongly condemned the assault on Madan Gopal Meghwal, the district president of the Congress party in Bikaner. The incident involved violent behavior from his own party members, which Baidya described as disgraceful, particularly towards a Dalit leader.
In a statement on Thursday, Baidya expressed his outrage, saying, “The way Congress workers attacked Bikaner’s district president, Madan Gopal Meghwal, with kicks and punches is condemnable. The Congress has always been anti-Dalit, and they have once again demonstrated this.”
He noted that until recently, no senior Congress official had commented on the incident. However, it has now come to light that some individuals have faced disciplinary action and expulsion from the party. Baidya assured that police action would follow, emphasizing that such disgraceful acts reveal the internal rifts within Congress. “Attacking a Dalit district president is shameful, and we condemn it,” he added.
Additionally, regarding the appointment of retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as the CEO of the Ram Temple Trust, Baidya congratulated him, stating, “I wish him all the best. The new CEO will do excellent work at the Ram Temple. He is a highly experienced individual, and great things are expected in the future.”
Following the Bikaner incident, the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee has taken significant action against two former councilors, Deepak Arora and Mohit Arora, suspending them from the primary membership of the Congress for six years. The BJP has seized upon this incident to accuse Congress of Dalit oppression and internal factionalism.
