Maharashtras Deputy Chief Minister Condemns Attack on Tiger Shroff

Deputy CM Eknath Shinde responds to the shooting incident involving Tiger Shroff, assuring swift police action and emphasizing public safety.

Mumbai, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : In a shocking incident in Mumbai, Bollywood star Tiger Shroff was targeted in a shooting, although he emerged unscathed. Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condemned the attack, labeling it both alarming and unacceptable. He communicated with both the police commissioner and Shroff, stating that multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the assailants. Shinde assured the public that those responsible would be swiftly caught and dealt with appropriately.

Central Minister Piyush Goyal echoed Shinde’s sentiments, promising that police would take decisive action to arrest the suspects. NCP (SP) legislator Rohit Pawar expressed concerns over the safety of public figures, noting that just days prior, a Shiv Sena councilor was murdered in Mumbai. He questioned the deteriorating law and order situation in Maharashtra, urging the Chief Minister to delegate the home department’s responsibilities to someone more focused on public safety.

Former DGP Vikram Singh described the incident as a sensational criminal act, revealing that three assailants on motorcycles opened fire, injuring Shroff’s driver, who is currently hospitalized. Fortunately, Shroff was unharmed, and the Mumbai Police have initiated an extensive investigation with 15 teams assigned to the case.

AIMIM spokesperson Waris Pathan condemned the brazen act, highlighting the lack of fear among criminals in a bustling area like Juhu during the festive season. He raised concerns about a return to the crime-ridden atmosphere of the 1990s, where Bollywood figures were frequently targeted. Pathan criticized the government’s failure to prioritize public safety, especially following recent high-profile incidents.

Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant called the attack on Shroff a serious matter, questioning the government’s capability to maintain law and order. He pointed to a troubling trend of threats against Bollywood personalities and emphasized the need for accountability from authorities.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare also expressed alarm over the incident, noting that Mumbai, a hub for the film industry, lacks adequate security measures for its celebrities. She recalled previous attacks on figures like Rohit Shetty and Salman Khan, linking them to organized crime groups, and lamented the government’s insufficient response.

Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad reiterated the urgent need for a dedicated home minister in Maharashtra, criticizing the current administration’s inability to ensure safety for its citizens, particularly public figures. She expressed concern that if leaders and actors are not secure, the general public’s safety is even more precarious.
