Opposition Faces Backlash Over Womens Reservation Bill: Annpurna Devi Speaks Out

New Delhi, April 25: The recent failure to pass the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill during a special parliamentary session has sparked widespread outrage among women across the country. The BJP’s women’s wing has taken to the streets, rallying against opposition parties.

The BJP claims that the opposition coalition has attempted to silence the voices of sisters and daughters. In response, women in Jharkhand demonstrated their anger on Saturday.

Union Minister Annpurna Devi addressed the media, stating that a special session was convened to grant women reservation. Women had high hopes that their expectations would be met. Millions of sisters were watching the Lok Sabha proceedings, anticipating the recognition of their rights and the opportunity to represent themselves in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies by 2029. They expected to play a significant role in policy-making. However, the opposition shattered those intentions and disrespected women.

She emphasized that thousands of our sisters have gathered against the opposition parties. In the coming days, these parties will face the consequences of their actions.

Meanwhile, women in Bengaluru also participated in protests against the opposition parties.

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje stated that they strongly oppose the India Bloc coalition. The delimitation and women’s reservation bills would have provided women with greater representation and opportunities, but the India Bloc has disrespected them and pushed them to the margins, which we vehemently condemn. We will protest this across the country and continue our fight against the India Bloc.

She added that the delimitation bill proposes a 50% increase in representation. This increase would benefit South India by providing more opportunities. For instance, Tamil Nadu’s current 39 seats could rise to 59, while Karnataka’s 28 seats could increase to 42. Overall, a 50% increase would grant us more representation. The India Bloc aims to divide the country and incite unrest, and we will oppose this.
