Opposition Criticizes Government Over LPG Cylinder Shortage

Mumbai, March 10: Opposition parties have targeted the central government over the alleged shortage of LPG cylinders in several major cities across the country. The Samajwadi Party and Congress have raised questions about the government’s policies and claims, asserting that the administration is misleading the public.

Samajwadi Party MP Ramgopal Yadav commented on the shortage in restaurants in Mumbai and Bengaluru, stating, “There is a shortage worldwide, yet our government continues to mislead the public. The government claims we have sufficient LPG, petrol, and diesel, but 80 percent of our petrol, diesel, and crude oil is imported. With a decrease in crude oil supply, the central government is deceiving people. Their flawed policies are causing significant harm to the country.”

He emphasized that while there is a global shortage, the central government falsely claims to have ample stocks of LPG, petrol, and diesel.

Samajwadi Party MP Neeraj Kushwaha Maurya also criticized the government on this issue. Speaking to a news agency, he said, “The central government is continuously burdening the common people with inflation. Gas prices have already increased, and now reports of gas shortages are emerging, which is extremely unfortunate. Given the current conditions and war-like situations in the Middle East, energy supply could be affected. The government must ensure the adequate availability of petroleum products so that people receive gas and other essential resources on time.”

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari also held the central government and the Ministry of Petroleum responsible for the LPG shortage. He stated, “Initially, the government raised the prices of domestic and commercial LPG, and now we face a gas shortage. In many areas, booking a domestic gas cylinder is not possible before 25 days. This situation reflects the government’s policy failures.”

Tiwari also mentioned international circumstances, stating that if India must rely on other countries for energy resources, it is concerning. The government should provide clarity on this issue and ensure a smooth supply of gas within the country.
