Oliver Peake’s Century Powers Australia in U-19 World Cup Super-6 Clash

Harare: Oliver Peake played a captain’s innings to remember, scoring a century against West Indies in the Super-6 stage of the Under-19 World Cup 2026 at Harare Sports Club. His brilliant knock of 109 runs, featuring 10 boundaries, helped Australia post a strong total of 314 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl, the Australian team received a solid start from the opening pair of Will Malajuk and Nitesh Samuel. The duo put together 73 runs in just 9 overs, setting a positive tone for their innings.

Will Malajuk scored 48 runs off 30 balls, including 2 sixes and 8 fours. Steven Hogan came in at number three but could manage only one boundary off 5 balls. Australia lost two wickets by the time the score reached 84. At this point, Nitesh Samuel joined captain Oliver Peake to stabilize the innings.

The pair added 85 runs in 101 balls. Nitesh Samuel contributed 56 runs off 74 balls with 6 boundaries before getting out. Captain Peake then partnered with Alex Lee Young for a 69-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Oliver Peake was dismissed after 117 balls, having scored 109 runs with 1 six and 9 fours. Young played a quickfire 45 runs from 47 balls, including 2 sixes and 4 fours. Jaden Draper also chipped in with 29 runs for the team.

From the West Indies bowling side, Zakim Pollard and R.J.E. Gittens took 2 wickets each, while Wietel Lodge and Mika Mackenzie claimed one wicket apiece.

Earlier, Australia had secured a 6-wicket win over South Africa in their first Super-6 Group 1 match. With this victory against West Indies, Australia is poised to advance to the semifinals.

On the other hand, West Indies had won their opening Super-6 game against Ireland by 25 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method and are aiming to qualify for the next round with a second consecutive win.
