New Chandigarh, April 7: A meeting was held at the New Chandigarh Stadium, led by the newly elected honorary secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), Gurmeet Singh Mheet Hair.
Representatives and secretaries from various district cricket associations across Punjab participated in this important gathering. Mheet Hair warmly welcomed all members and appreciated their efforts to promote cricket at the grassroots level.
He emphasized that the player selection process must be transparent and based entirely on merit. Mheet Hair stated that no player should face injustice regarding their talent, and only by providing opportunities based on merit can better results be achieved. He also reviewed ongoing initiatives and progress related to cricket development in various districts, stressing the importance of collective efforts to strengthen the cricket framework in the state.
Mheet Hair welcomed suggestions and feedback from district associations, assuring that they would be seriously considered to ensure a well-organized development of cricket in Punjab.
Expressing serious concern over age-related fraud cases, the secretary noted that such activities undermine the credibility and fairness of age-group cricket, depriving deserving players of equal opportunities. He mentioned that it is the responsibility of the respective district cricket associations to ensure proper verification and scrutiny during player selection.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a shared commitment to provide better infrastructure and opportunities for emerging players across the state.
