Bhubaneswar, June 2: The Odisha government is taking significant steps to enhance the transparency, accountability, and integrity of its land registration process. Soon, all registration offices in the state will be equipped with an artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart surveillance system and state-of-the-art CCTV cameras. The primary goal is to curb the activities of middlemen and provide transparent services to the public.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari chaired a high-level meeting at the Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday to review the proposed smart surveillance system under the Inspector General of Registration (IGR). The meeting discussed various aspects related to the implementation, operation, and maintenance of this surveillance network.
During the meeting, the minister highlighted that the likelihood of corruption in registration offices primarily increases due to middlemen who frequently visit these offices without any official business. The smart surveillance system will be implemented to identify these individuals and monitor their activities. With the help of AI technology, tracking and identifying middlemen will be more effective. Appropriate action and penalties will be ensured against those found guilty.
Suresh Pujari made it clear that the land transaction and registration process will be entirely free of middlemen, and corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasized that a transparent, accountable, and corruption-free revenue administration is among the government’s top priorities.
The minister also mentioned that in the future, this smart surveillance system will be expanded to include tehsil offices and Revenue Inspector (RI) offices. This system will monitor the attendance, working hours, and field visits of officials and staff. Regular reviews will be conducted at the state headquarters under the supervision of the minister and the additional chief secretary of the department.
Additionally, fire safety measures will be strengthened. The capacity of the smart control room will be increased, and modern technologies such as real-time monitoring will be utilized to make revenue administration more effective, transparent, and citizen-centric.
