Bhubaneswar, August 1: The Odisha government has dismissed allegations of a question paper leak during the recent postgraduate medical examination conducted by the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS). Officials stated that images of the question paper circulated due to a management error during the exam.
Taking the matter seriously, the state government issued an official statement indicating that preliminary investigations reveal this incident was not a leak. It was found that someone took photos of questions from the paper and sent them via phone due to lapses in exam management.
In response, the Health and Family Welfare Department has formed a high-level committee consisting of three members to investigate all aspects of the incident that occurred at MKCG Medical College in Berhampur. This includes examining potential management failures by OUHS during the exam.
The committee will be chaired by Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar Dash, with Special Secretary Vijay Kumar Mishra and Joint DMET Anil Kumar Sahu as members. This committee was established through an official order issued on July 31, 2026.
Additionally, OUHS has sought clarification from MKCG Medical College and Hospital regarding the alleged shortcomings in exam management. The university has instructed the institution to submit a detailed report of the investigation within two days of receiving the notice.
MKCG, Berhampur, has also formed a separate inquiry committee to initiate disciplinary action against those responsible for the incident. This committee, chaired by the Dean and Principal of the institution, has been tasked with investigating the matter.
In a significant step, an FIR has been lodged at the Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar to investigate the electronic transmission of the question paper content and its dissemination via WhatsApp groups. This complaint was filed by the examination controller of OUHS.
