Jaipur, August 2: The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Rajasthan Police, has successfully dismantled a fake combat uniform racket in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. During this operation, authorities seized over 1,000 meters of unauthorized military-pattern fabric.
This crackdown follows intelligence reports from the Indian Army and a joint operation with the Rajasthan Police, leading to the confiscation of approximately 1,000 meters of illegal army-pattern combat fabric from local shops in Sri Ganganagar district. This operation has exposed a vast network allegedly supplying counterfeit military uniforms to vendors in the area.
The action was initiated after a similar seizure of fake combat clothing in Bareilly in June, traced back to a manufacturing source in Sri Ganganagar. Following this lead, intelligence personnel from the Indian Army conducted a separate investigation in the city, identifying a local firm as a key link in the supply chain. This firm was reportedly distributing fake army-pattern combat fabric to shops in Sri Ganganagar, Lalgarh Jattan, Suratgarh, and other nearby markets.
In mid-July, an interim investigation report was shared with the Rajasthan Police, leading to a coordinated operation on July 30. Security personnel and police conducted searches at multiple shops across the district, resulting in the discovery of nearly 1,000 meters of unauthorized, newly-patterned fake combat fabric.
It is important to note that unauthorized possession, sale, or use of military-pattern combat fabric is a punishable offense. Such materials pose security risks, as they can enable impersonation of armed forces personnel.
