Odisha Congress Chief Condemns NEET Paper Leak, Demands Strict Action Against Culprits

Bhubaneswar, May 13: The President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), Bhakta Charan Das, has strongly condemned the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak incident, criticizing the central government for its failure to address the issue. He labeled the leak as an “organized crime” within the education system and called for stringent action against those involved.

Referencing concerns previously raised by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Das emphasized that millions of students dedicated countless hours preparing for the exam, only to have their efforts undermined by corrupt gangs exploiting government negligence.

“Children have studied day and night, hoping for a bright future, but the paper leak has shattered their dreams. This is not mere negligence; it is organized crime in the education sector,” he stated.

Allegations suggest that corrupt elements involved in the leak profited significantly, with claims that numerous paper leak incidents have occurred across the country over the past decade.

Das noted that approximately 22 to 23 lakh students participated in this year’s NEET exam, putting their futures at risk.

“This is a serious crime that requires immediate action. The culprits must face severe punishment,” he asserted.

He further warned that any re-examination would impose an economic burden on the government, the public, and the nation, while also creating uncertainty in the lives of students.

Das accused officials of failing to fulfill their basic responsibilities and stated that those in power must take moral responsibility for this lapse.

During a press conference in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, Congress leaders alleged that student organizations across the country are protesting against the paper leak, directing their anger towards Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which has become a source of shame for the people of Odisha.

The party has also demanded Pradhan’s immediate resignation to protect Odisha’s dignity and pave the way for a fair and independent investigation.
