Bhopal, July 29: In the ongoing by-elections for the assembly seat in Datia district, the BJP has accused Congress state president Jitu Patwari of making inflammatory and baseless statements. The party has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, demanding strict action against Patwari.
A BJP delegation met with the Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh, submitting two separate complaints regarding Patwari’s alleged incendiary, factually incorrect, and undemocratic remarks during the Datia assembly by-elections. They called for immediate and severe action against him.
The delegation stated that Congress, facing a potential defeat, has become completely agitated. In this state of despair, Jitu Patwari has been making irrational, unfounded accusations at election rallies without any evidence.
Such false and misleading claims are aimed solely at confusing voters, poisoning the electoral atmosphere, and undermining the integrity of the free and fair electoral process.
The delegation highlighted that Patwari openly threatened the police administration during a public meeting, attempting to disrupt law and order and the electoral process. Such language directed at police officers on election duty not only demoralizes them but also incites Congress workers to take the law into their own hands.
The BJP alleges that Patwari’s irresponsible, provocative, and false statements could significantly impact the peaceful electoral process in Datia. Elections in a democracy should be fought based on public support, development, and policies, not through false accusations, threats, and misinformation.
The BJP delegation has urged the Chief Electoral Officer to promptly investigate the video evidence of both speeches made by Jitu Patwari and take stringent action against him under the Model Code of Conduct. They have also called for necessary measures to ensure peaceful, free, and fair voting during the Datia by-elections and to immediately curb such incendiary and threatening statements.
