NSUI Protests Against NEET Paper Leak, Calls for Ministers Resignation

New Delhi, May 18: Students affiliated with the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged protests across the national capital and Uttar Pradesh regarding the NEET paper leak issue. The demonstrators demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a ban on the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Large groups of NSUI activists gathered to voice their opposition to the repeated incidents of paper leaks. They accused the authorities of causing significant challenges for millions of students due to ongoing irregularities in competitive examinations.

One protester stated, “Our demands are clear: first, the NTA must be banned, and second, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign. The continuous paper leaks have caused immense distress for millions of students. It is unfortunate that students prepare all year for exams, only to be told that the paper has been leaked.”

Another protester highlighted the broader impact of these incidents, stating that they not only affect students but also parents who invest their hard-earned money in their children’s education and preparations.

A different protester pointed out that paper leak incidents have been recurring, with cases reported in 2021, 2024, and now in 2026. This pattern indicates that the government is not taking these issues seriously.

Additionally, it was reported that a beautician was arrested today in connection with the leaks. A protester raised a critical question: how could one individual leak papers on such a large scale? The primary demands remain the same: the resignation of Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a ban on the NTA.

Concerns were also expressed regarding the mental health of students affected by this controversy. One protester mentioned that many candidates are experiencing stress due to the situation.

Another protester asked Minister Dharmendra Pradhan about the fate of their hard work and shattered dreams. “We have spent countless nights studying. If paper leaks become a norm, who will motivate students to study?” Many students are currently suffering from mental stress due to these leaks, yet the Education Minister appears indifferent to the situation.

Meanwhile, in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, NSUI activists conducted a unique protest by distributing snacks to the public.

During the protests, NSUI claimed that the ongoing paper leaks confirm the government’s failure to maintain transparency in recruitment and examination processes.

Protesters asserted that NEET papers have been consistently leaked, with 89 different papers leaked over the past decade, demonstrating the weakness of the BJP government. They also criticized the government for rising unemployment.
