New Delhi: In a unique step to promote road safety, the Delhi Traffic Police has launched an initiative where common citizens can issue traffic challans and also earn rewards. Through the newly introduced ‘Traffic Prahari’ mobile app, anyone can report traffic violations by uploading clear photos, helping authorities take action.

This initiative is gaining attention on social media and is being seen as both a public participation movement and a source of income for some citizens.
How Does It Work?
Download and Register on App:
Start by downloading the ‘Traffic Prahari’ app from the Google Play Store. Complete a simple registration process, which includes OTP verification.Click and Upload Violation Photos:
If you spot a traffic violation—such as riding without a helmet, jumping a red light, or driving on the wrong side—take a clear photo of the vehicle and upload it to the app. You must also provide the date, time, and location.Verification and Challan Issuance:
Delhi Traffic Police will verify the image to ensure that it is genuine and not submitted out of personal enmity. If approved, a challan notice will be sent to the vehicle owner, and the citizen will be informed of the successful submission.
Monthly Cash Rewards
To motivate public participation, Delhi Police rewards citizens who submit the most verified challans every month:
₹50,000 for first place
₹25,000 for second
₹15,000 for third
₹10,000 for fourth
Why Was This Scheme Launched?
According to DCP (Traffic) S.K. Singh, the goal is to raise public awareness about traffic rules and enhance road safety. He highlighted that four-wheeler drivers are most often found violating rules such as red-light jumping and over-speeding. The app has proven effective in addressing such cases.
Delhi witnesses 20,000–22,000 challans per day, of which 18,000–19,000 are issued via CCTV surveillance and 5,000–6,000 on the spot.
Citizens Form WhatsApp Groups to Share Violations
The initiative has opened up a new income stream for many, especially unemployed youth and socially responsible individuals. Several have created WhatsApp groups to coordinate and share violation photos from different localities as part of a group strategy.
Guidelines for Submissions
Photos must be clear and show the vehicle number and violation.
Fake or malicious reports are rejected.
The process is fully transparent with strict verification to prevent misuse.
A New Step Towards Safer Roads
This initiative not only strengthens road safety but also offers a valuable earning opportunity for the public. If you want to bring a change in society and also earn extra income, download the ‘Traffic Prahari’ app today and keep an eye out for traffic rule violators.
