Noida, May 23: The Gautam Buddh Nagar police have successfully apprehended a wanted suspect involved in the violence and arson during a labor protest. The arrested individual has been identified as Naresh Kumar, son of Chhotelal, a resident of Chhotpur in Sector-63, Gautam Buddh Nagar, originally from Jaitikheda, Kalyanpur, Fatehpur district.
The suspect is approximately 45 years old. According to police reports, on April 13, 2026, a large-scale demonstration by workers and laborers took place across various locations in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Thousands of individuals took to the streets, significantly impacting law and order in several areas.
During the protest, some unruly elements turned violent, causing chaos in the Sector-63 area. It was reported that a crowd of demonstrators gathered near Vipul Motors in Sector-63. At that moment, Naresh Kumar arrived with his associates and systematically set fire to parked vehicles. The blaze was so intense that numerous four-wheelers and two-wheelers were engulfed in flames. Additionally, the suspects vandalized several other vehicles using iron pipes, further escalating the arson.
Following the incident, panic ensued in the area. A case was registered at the Sector-63 police station, and authorities were actively searching for the suspects. A special team formed by the police identified the accused based on scientific evidence, CCTV footage, and other technical investigations. During the inquiry, Naresh Kumar was clearly seen executing the arson. The investigation also revealed that he was employed as a tailor at Mahaveera Company in Sector-63.
On the day of the incident, he was observed inciting employees to strike within the company premises. Subsequently, he joined the crowd outside, participating in the violent protest. Police discovered several documents and information related to labor unions on the suspect’s mobile phone. The investigation further disclosed that Naresh Kumar had previously been actively involved in labor movements in the Manesar region of Haryana.
To evade capture, he had ported his mobile number to another service provider. However, police managed to trace him through technical surveillance and arrested him. Currently, authorities are interrogating the suspect and continuing their search for his accomplices. Officials have stated that no one involved in the violence and arson will be spared.
