New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Nitish Kumar Reddy delivered an impressive performance in the second T20 match against Afghanistan on September 16 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, taking three wickets for just 24 runs. His outstanding bowling helped India restrict the visiting team to 159 runs for 8 wickets, leading to a seven-wicket victory and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Reddy was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts.
Following the match, Reddy attributed his success to a strong belief in his abilities, particularly after recovering from a recent injury. He emphasized that his rehabilitation at the Center of Excellence (CoE) played a crucial role in restoring his confidence and fitness levels.
After receiving his award, Reddy expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It feels great. I’m feeling really good right now. We’ve done a lot of good work at the CoE, and my body is recovering well.”
His return to form has significantly strengthened the Indian team, which is striving for better balance with its pace-bowling all-rounders. Reddy noted that the extra speed he has gained is part of his ambition to establish himself as a complete all-rounder.
“I feel great. I have always wanted to be the best all-rounder, and I needed that extra pace, which I’m now achieving. There will be both advantages and drawbacks, and staying fit is essential,” he said.
Reddy’s performance marked a strong comeback after a limited impact in the first T20 match. However, he remained focused on his capabilities rather than dwelling on previous games. “It’s all about trusting your abilities and making a comeback. I was just believing in myself. This game can change in an instant,” he remarked.
