Nitish and Arshdeep Shine as India Targets 160 Runs Against Afghanistan in Second T20

New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Afghanistan set a target of 160 runs for India in the second T20 match of the series at Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 15, 2026. Batting first after losing the toss, Afghanistan managed to score 159 runs, losing eight wickets in the process.

The Afghan innings began poorly, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz dismissed for a duck in the second over. Captain Ibrahim Zadran then stabilized the innings, partnering with Sediqullah Atal to add 51 runs for the second wicket off 40 balls. Zadran scored 37 runs from 33 balls, including six fours, before being dismissed. Atal contributed 12 runs off 15 balls.

Afghanistan lost their fourth wicket at 67 runs. Ajmatullah Omarzai and Darwish Rasooli then added 29 runs for the fifth wicket, bringing the score to 96. Rasooli scored 26 runs off 15 balls, hitting three boundaries before falling at the 100-run mark.

The experienced duo of Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan stepped up, adding 48 runs for the seventh wicket in just 28 balls. Nabi scored 20 runs off 14 balls, while Khan made 28 runs from 16 balls, featuring four boundaries.

For India, Nitish Reddy was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for 24 runs in three overs. Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi each took one wicket.

Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, India fielded a team including wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravi Bishnoi.

Afghanistan’s playing XI featured Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal, Gulbadin Naib, Darwish Rasooli, Ajmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Fazalhaq Farooqi.

India won the first match of the series by seven wickets and aims to secure an unassailable lead by winning this match. The final match of the series is scheduled for September 17 at the same venue.
