NIA Takes Major Action in Baramulla, Seizes Properties Linked to Pakistan-Supported Terrorist Plot

Srinagar, June 18: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted a significant operation in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, targeting a Pakistan-supported terrorist conspiracy. On Wednesday, the NIA seized two properties belonging to a key accused linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization as part of its ongoing anti-terrorism campaign in the region.

The investigation revealed that the accused, Shaheen Ahmed Lone, was involved in smuggling weapons, ammunition, and explosives from Pakistan through a network. These arms were supplied to terrorists of banned organizations for carrying out activities in the Kashmir Valley.

Additionally, the NIA’s investigation found that Lone was actively involved in facilitating the transfer of funds to terrorists. He was arrested in September 2020, and a chargesheet was filed against him in March 2021 under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Following orders from the NIA’s Special Court in Jammu, the agency seized two properties under Section 33(1) of the UAPA on Wednesday. These properties are located in the Kanispora village of Baramulla district and include a residential house built on 7.5 marlas of land and a 6 marla plot with a shed.

In a related operation on the same day, the NIA also seized real estate linked to another accused under the UAPA in Baramulla district. According to NIA sources, the agency confiscated the assets of Shaheen Ahmed Lone, who has already been arrested in this case. The seized property includes 7.5 marlas of land registered under survey number 1192 in Kanispora village.
