Jammu, August 30: BJP legislator Sunil Bhardwaj has condemned the Kishtwar incident as deplorable and unfortunate, urging for a CBI investigation. He emphasized that such events have a mental impact on other children as well. In response to a cleric’s statement declaring India a Muslim nation, he labeled it as a sign of a sick mentality.
Bhardwaj stated, “It is extremely condemnable and unfortunate that this happened to a young girl, resulting in her death. This incident affects the mental well-being of other children in that age group. The punishment in such cases should set a precedent. If a CBI investigation is necessary, it should be conducted. The punishment must instill fear in the minds of such criminals, making them think ten times before committing such acts again.”
Regarding the cleric’s remarks, he said, “This reflects a sick mentality. There are forces attempting to alter the eternal character of our nation, and examples of this are found everywhere. I urge those clerics to understand the essence of our culture; such heinous acts would not occur.”
He continued, “No religion in the world condones such actions. I appeal to them to reflect on their words. Study India’s civilization and see when such atrocities were ever permitted.”
Demanding harsh penalties, the BJP legislator reiterated, “I have consistently stated that such actions are never supported in any society. The punishment should serve as an example, instilling fear in potential offenders.”
On the controversy involving Time Raina and Sharon Verma, he remarked, “We view India as a bouquet, home to diverse religions, castes, languages, and regions. Therefore, comments on each other’s identities and the use of indecent language should not be tolerated. The foundation of India is unity in diversity, and attempts to undermine this are unacceptable.”
He added, “Whenever someone comments on India’s unity and integrity in such a manner, they are attempting to break it apart. They should apologize not only to the people but also to Mother India. The essence of India is hurt, and the sentiments of those who believe in secularism and equality are also wounded. Such individuals should be identified and warned.”
