New Delhi, May 7: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against a notorious arms and ammunition smuggler involved in an illegal ammunition trafficking case spanning Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.
Parvez Alam is the ninth accused in this case. Charges were filed against him in a special NIA court located in Patna, Bihar, under various sections of the BNS and Arms Act. So far, a total of 11 individuals have been arrested, with eight currently in judicial custody and facing trial.
Parvez has multiple weapon-related cases registered against him since 2013. He was apprehended under a production warrant for his involvement in a major gang trafficking prohibited caliber ammunition. This case originated last July when local police in Bihar registered a complaint following the seizure of a large quantity of illegal ammunition and the arrest of four suspects.
After taking over the investigation in August 2025, the NIA discovered that the gang operated on three levels: major suppliers, key intermediaries, and connected retail vendors. Subsequent searches and investigations conducted by the agency across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar led to the arrest of key suspects at each level. Further investigations are ongoing.
