Newlywed Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances in Mussoorie Homestay

New Delhi, June 16: A vacation planned by a newlywed couple from Delhi turned tragic when the wife was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a homestay in Mussoorie. The police have intensified their investigation into the case.

Authorities have collected evidence from the scene, sent the body for autopsy, and launched a comprehensive inquiry to determine the exact cause of death.

According to officials, the police control room received a call around 7 AM on Sunday, reporting that a woman staying at the Kiyana homestay in Tipridhar, located on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road, was unconscious in her room and unresponsive.

Upon receiving the information, a team from the Mussoorie police and an ambulance service arrived promptly. After examining the woman, pharmacist Rakesh Kumar, who was with the ambulance team, declared her dead.

The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old P. Radha Gayatri, a resident of East Delhi. She was on vacation with her husband, Soumya Shricharan. According to the police, the couple had reached Rishikesh from Delhi on June 13 and checked into the homestay around 11:30 PM on June 14.

The husband reported to the police that they had consumed alcohol that night and went to sleep around 3:30 AM. When he woke up the next morning, he allegedly found his wife unconscious on the floor, with blood coming from her nose and no signs of movement. He immediately informed the homestay staff, who then notified the police.

Police personnel and a forensic field unit conducted a thorough inspection of the room. During the investigation, the deceased was found on the floor, with blood stains observed on the sheets. Two empty bottles of alcohol were recovered from the room.

The field unit based in Dehradun collected several crucial samples and pieces of evidence from the scene. Documentation of the entire site was carried out through videography and photography.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the couple had married on November 8, 2025. The husband works for an IT company in Pune, while the wife is employed at a company in Gurugram. This trip was reportedly organized as a post-wedding vacation.

Given the sensitivity of the case, the inquest proceedings were conducted in the presence of an executive magistrate and a deputy tehsildar. The body was later sent to Coronation Hospital in Dehradun, where a panel of doctors has been requested to perform the autopsy. The entire process is being video recorded.

Following the incident, the deceased’s in-laws arrived in Mussoorie, while her parents are expected to arrive from Visakhapatnam later tonight. Both families originally hail from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

SHO Devendra Chauhan stated that the exact cause of death is still unclear. He mentioned that clarity will emerge only after the autopsy report and forensic investigation results are available. The police are examining all possible angles, including natural causes and health-related issues.
