New Delhi, August 30: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the journey towards a “Developed India” should extend from major cities to every neighborhood, settlement, and family. He emphasized that change should not only be reflected in infrastructure but also in our identity. Singh noted that India is progressing with the commitment to becoming a developed nation.
He explained, “A developed India does not merely mean large projects and modern buildings. It signifies providing quality education for children, ensuring clean water reaches households, offering opportunities for youth to play and showcase their talents, and ensuring that differently-abled children do not feel marginalized in society. This is true development.”
On Sunday, Singh addressed the inauguration ceremony of several development projects in Lucknow Cantonment. He remarked that the ongoing development in Lucknow is not just about bricks, cement, and machinery; it aims to enhance people’s lives. Efforts are being made to provide water to homes, education and opportunities for children, healthcare for the needy, and new directions for youth through sports.
Singh also mentioned that the Lucknow Cantonment Board has renamed some markets, which have historical significance from the British era, after great personalities associated with India’s freedom struggle, social awareness, and national service.
He added, “Today is significant for Lucknow Cantonment as we are inaugurating 12 development projects worth approximately ₹101 crores. These projects represent 12 commitments: a better cantonment, a cleaner cantonment, improved water supply, a brighter future for children, better sports opportunities for youth, dignified civic amenities, and a cantonment advancing with modern technology.”
The Defense Minister expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration between the Uttar Pradesh government, the Ministry of Defense, and the industry in driving this development. When the central and state governments align in their vision, the pace of development accelerates significantly.
He praised the entire team of the Lucknow Cantonment Board, stating that their clarity of thought, clear objectives, and willingness to work have led to significant results despite limited resources. He hopes this momentum will continue in the future.
