New Solar Technician Course Launched to Empower Youth in Rajouri

Rajouri, March 13: In a bid to enhance skill development among educated unemployed youth and promote self-employment, the Employment Department has launched a three-month Solar Technician training program in collaboration with ITI Rajouri. This initiative aims to equip local youth with technical skills in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector, opening up new employment opportunities.

During the training program, participants will learn the fundamentals of solar technology, including the process of manufacturing solar panels, installation techniques, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of solar systems. The course comprises both theoretical classes and practical sessions, ensuring that trainees gain a solid technical understanding along with hands-on experience.

Officials from the department stated that the solar energy sector is expanding rapidly across the country, leading to an increased demand for trained solar technicians. The department’s goal is to prepare youth to take advantage of opportunities in the renewable energy industry through specialized training, encouraging them to become self-reliant.

Upon successfully completing the three-month course, trainees will receive a certificate or diploma, which can assist them in securing jobs with solar companies or starting their own ventures in the field. Additionally, after the training, each trainee will receive a direct benefit transfer of three thousand rupees into their bank accounts.

Trained youth will also be linked to the ‘Mission Youth’ scheme, which provides financial assistance and loan facilities for establishing solar-related businesses. This initiative aims to empower youth by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities while promoting the use of clean and renewable energy in the sector.

Ajay Kumar, a trainee, expressed to a news agency that the government is offering various training programs to promote skill development among youth, and this Solar Technician course could be highly beneficial. He noted that solarization is rapidly increasing globally, with solar energy projects expanding in nearly every state, leading to a consistent demand for trained technicians. He highlighted that the government is also implementing several schemes to promote solar energy, including the PM Surya Home Scheme, which requires solar technicians.

Ajay Kumar mentioned that after completing this course, youth can work on large solar projects for major companies. They can also start their own solar installation businesses by securing loans from banks, thereby increasing employment opportunities for unemployed youth. He explained that during the three-month training, they will learn various technical aspects, including solar panel installation, structure preparation, earthing, and AC wiring, with both practical and theoretical instruction provided.

An instructor at ITI Rajouri stated that this specialized training program is being conducted under the directives of the Employment Department. She mentioned that students will gain knowledge about the functioning of solar cells, the manufacturing process, and the fundamental principles of solar energy systems during the training. After completing the course, trainees will be assessed, and successful candidates will be awarded certificates.

The instructor added that after receiving their training and certificates, youth can secure loans from banks to start their solar-related businesses or find employment in companies. This training program not only aims to provide technical skills but also assists youth in becoming self-reliant and exploring new employment opportunities in the sector.

Ujjwal Mahajan, Principal of ITI, stated that during the course, students will learn about solar panel repair, installation, and all related mechanisms. After training, they will become part of the workforce and prove to be highly effective. This is the era of solar energy, with a focus on solar even in the government sector, leading to faster service in the solar sector.
