Mumbai, August 15: The newly inaugurated Glass Skywalk at the renowned Dahbosa Waterfall in Palghar district promises to redefine tourism in the area. On the occasion of Independence Day, Forest Minister and Palghar District Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik unveiled this attractive tourist project. This initiative is expected to significantly increase the influx of domestic and international tourists, while also creating new employment and income opportunities for local residents.
During the inauguration, Minister Naik emphasized that Palghar district boasts a unique heritage of beaches, mountains, and natural beauty. He noted that improved connectivity, the bullet train project, various highways, and other developmental works will invigorate the tourism sector. The government’s goal is to develop every major tourist spot and beach in the district, providing sustainable employment and income sources for the local population.
Naik stated that the Dahbosa Glass Skywalk is a crucial step towards tourism development. Plans are underway to enhance infrastructure at other tourist sites in the Jawhar taluka. The Skywalk complex will feature improved parking, tourist facilities, and other essential arrangements.
The minister also highlighted the importance of ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism reach local communities. There are plans to involve gram panchayats and local institutions in the economic gains from tourism activities. Steps will also be taken to ensure local participation in parking arrangements and other services.
Ganesh Naik stressed the need to connect local tribal families to the tourism economy. He proposed effectively implementing a ‘home-stay’ scheme to allow tourists to stay with local families, ensuring that tourism revenue directly benefits rural and tribal households. He also called for increasing employment opportunities by linking women’s self-help groups to tourism activities.
Given the anticipated rise in tourist numbers at the Skywalk, Naik instructed that safety measures be prioritized. This includes implementing effective crowd control systems, entry regulations, and CCTV surveillance. Additionally, he directed that the CCTV network be integrated with local police systems.
To maintain food quality and hygiene at tourist sites, a special campaign in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration will be launched. Furthermore, administrative support will be provided to local resort operators, tourism entrepreneurs, and tribal area business owners for necessary permits, guidance, and bank loans.
Minister Ganesh Naik expressed confidence that the comprehensive development of Palghar district is achievable through the collective efforts of the administration, elected representatives, and citizens. He assured that there will be an acceleration in the development of health, education, water supply, transportation, and other basic facilities in the near future.
He committed to bringing significant changes to Palghar district during his remaining tenure as Guardian Minister, emphasizing that development and public welfare will remain the government’s top priority.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by MP Dr. Hemant Sawara, MLAs Rajendra Gavit and Harishchandra Bhoye, District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhad, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council Manoj Ranade, Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh, Project Officer Apoorva Basur, Deputy Conservator Saifun Sheikh, trainee IAS officer P.V. Amal, former District Council President Prakash Nikam, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department Mahendra Keni, and Sarpanch Yogita Madi, among other representatives, officials, and citizens.
