New Delhi, March 5: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation stone for a foot over bridge in the Ladakh Buddha Vihar area of the Civil Lines district on Thursday. This bridge will connect the Ladakh Buddha Vihar and Monastery Market areas, fulfilling a long-standing demand from local residents.
During the inauguration, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized the significance of the day, stating that the community’s persistent request for a foot over bridge is finally being addressed. Residents from Ladakh have been advocating for this infrastructure for years, repeatedly presenting their case to previous governments. Despite numerous applications and requests, the project had not progressed until now. Gupta noted that her government has expedited the process significantly.
She remarked that when there is political will, even small projects can be completed swiftly. All necessary permissions for the project have been secured, and the government aims to have the bridge ready within six months. Gupta highlighted that once completed, the bridge will greatly ease the daily commute for local residents.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that Delhi is not just a city but a microcosm of the entire country. People from various states live here, contributing to the city’s identity. Families from Ladakh have made Delhi their home, and it is the government’s responsibility to understand and cater to the needs of all communities.
Additionally, Gupta mentioned that the bridge’s design will reflect the unique culture and identity of Ladakh, allowing residents to feel a connection to their roots.
Tashi Gyalson, the state president of the Ladakh BJP, welcomed this initiative and expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and the government. He noted that the community had been striving for this bridge for many years, and its realization will be a significant milestone for the local population.
