New Delhi, August 31: Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, the Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), presented pension, gratuity, and leave encashment checks to 47 retiring employees on Monday at the Convention Center on Jai Singh Road.
He wished the retiring staff good health and encouraged them to lead a meaningful and active life post-retirement.
Earlier, the NDMC provided updates on preparations for the upcoming BRICS summit scheduled for next month.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the NDMC stated, “Guided by the theme of India’s BRICS presidency, ‘Building for Strength, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability,’ and Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Humanity First’ approach, the forthcoming BRICS summit will bring countries together to strengthen cooperation and address shared global priorities.”
The NDMC also emphasized its commitment to making the national capital a suitable host for this historic global event, which includes world-class civic services, cleanliness, green spaces, beautification, infrastructure, and excellent public amenities.
The council mentioned, “With careful and precise preparations for every detail, the NDMC is working to present a clean, green, vibrant, and welcoming New Delhi to the world. We hope to make this global event a memorable moment for New Delhi and India.”
As part of its agenda for sustainable waste management and a greener New Delhi, the NDMC has launched a special program for distributing organic compost at the municipal center.
During the program’s launch, Dwivedi highlighted ongoing efforts to convert biodegradable waste into valuable resources. The NDMC chairman distributed organic compost made from wet and green waste to employees and the gardening department for use in homes, colonies, parks, and other green areas.
Three trucks filled with organic compost were also dispatched for the gardening department, further strengthening the NDMC’s ‘Waste to Wealth’ initiative.
Dwivedi stated, “The NDMC is taking a significant step towards promoting sustainable waste management by distributing organic compost made from wet waste among its employees through aerobic composting. We will now extend this initiative to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), enabling residents to use this natural fertilizer for their potted plants and home nurseries.”
He added, “This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of creating a ‘Waste-Free’ culture and gradually moving towards ‘Zero Chemical Use.’ Our aim is to promote organic methods, reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers, and raise awareness among citizens about the benefits of organic compost and sustainable gardening.”
