Pune, September 1: The Crime Branch’s Property Cell team achieved a significant breakthrough in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Drug Inspector recruitment paper leak case on Tuesday. Rituja Patil, a wanted suspect in the MPSC paper leak, was apprehended by the Crime Branch team in Nandurbar.
On August 26, the Mumbai Crime Branch had already arrested six suspects in connection with the MPSC paper leak. All of the accused have been remanded to police custody until September 2. Investigations revealed a romantic relationship between candidates Rituja Patil and Gaurav Patil. Rituja allegedly informed her father, Amrit Patil, about obtaining the exam paper. Following this, Amrit Patil contacted the alleged middleman, Praveen Patil, who runs a coaching class in Nandurbar.
Police have discovered that a transaction of approximately 500,000 rupees occurred between Praveen Patil and the arrested MPSC officials. The entire deal is believed to be worth around 1.2 million rupees. The Crime Branch is currently investigating all financial transactions related to this amount.
The investigation has uncovered several crucial connections. Praveen Patil, Rituja’s father Amrit Patil, and the MPSC officials are all linked to Nandurbar. However, according to police, the coaching class run by Praveen Patil has no direct connection to the FDA Inspector exam, raising suspicions that more suspects may emerge in the paper leak network.
The paper was leaked two days before the exam, and the information quickly spread to several individuals. The complainant, Rishikesh Gangurde, creates FDA-related content on social media. During this time, Gaurav Patil contacted him and informed him about the leaked paper.
The police investigation revealed that Gaurav Patil and Rituja Patil were in a relationship. After their breakup, Gaurav decided to disclose the paper leak to the MPSC. Gaurav, also known as Lokesh, contacted Rishikesh Gangurde to inform him that he possessed a copy of the leaked paper.
Three officials associated with the MPSC have also been named in this case, including Vishweshwar Nakate (Assistant Room Officer), Gopal Marathe (Under Secretary-MPSC), and Abhijit Lendwe (Under Secretary-MPSC). Their roles are currently under investigation.
