Chandigarh, September 1: Sukhbir Singh Badal, the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and former Chief Minister of Punjab, has expressed deep condolences regarding the recent natural disaster in Nepal. He praised the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for its initiative to provide assistance to the people of Nepal during this challenging time.
In a post on the social media platform X, Badal stated, “Service knows no bounds. I sincerely thank the SGPC for taking the lead in helping the people affected by this tragedy in Nepal. Sarbat da bhala (well-being of all) is the core principle of Sikh values.”
He further added, “The SGPC’s efforts to contact Nepalese authorities, assess the needs of the affected individuals, and deliver aid reflect the eternal spirit of Sikh service and compassion. My heartfelt sympathies are with the people of Nepal and all families who have lost loved ones. The Sikh community stands shoulder to shoulder with Nepal and is ready to provide all possible assistance during this difficult time.”
It is noteworthy that the SGPC has initiated relief efforts following the disaster in Nepal. SGPC officials have reached out to local authorities to evaluate needs in the affected areas and ensure prompt assistance. This includes providing langar (community meals), medicines, and other essential relief materials.
The Sikh community’s spirit of service has always been exemplary worldwide. Whether in the face of floods or earthquakes in India or disasters abroad, the SGPC and Sikh organizations have consistently been at the forefront of providing help. Upholding the principle of Sarbat da bhala, the Sikh community serves humanity without discrimination.
The recent tragedy in Nepal has resulted in significant loss of life and property. Many families have lost loved ones, and hundreds have been left homeless. In such times, the efforts of the SGPC are commendable.
