New Delhi, August 19: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi recently stated that if the OBC community takes to the streets for their rights, the government will have to yield. This statement has drawn sharp reactions from NDA leaders.
BJP national spokesperson R.P. Singh responded, “First of all, this did not happen during their government. The OBC Commission was established by the Modi government. Prime Minister Modi pays great attention to the OBC community, as he himself belongs to this category. Now, Rahul Gandhi is introducing a new formula that everything should be done on the streets. This indicates that he wants to create chaos in the country.”
Danish Azad Ansari, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, remarked, “The Congress party and Rahul Gandhi are continuously trying to incite people and create instability in the country. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, unprecedented work has been done for the upliftment of backward communities, women, Dalits, and marginalized Muslims—work that no previous government has accomplished. The Congress party should clarify what they did for backward communities during their rule.”
Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC questioned, “Why does Rahul Gandhi engage in appeasement politics? He provokes the OBC community and then demands that the government ensure their safety. If you genuinely want to empower and protect people, make them self-reliant. Bring forth a proper vision plan. How long will you continue to play politics based on caste and religion?”
Rajiv Ranjan, national spokesperson for JDU, stated, “Rahul Gandhi now appears to be more of a statement-giving leader. He should also inform us how many OBC secretaries were there in the Indian government during the six decades when Congress ruled at the center and in various states.”
BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana described Gandhi’s comments as a political stunt. He said, “The way he attempted to hijack the recent protests in Delhi by bringing in criminals and anti-social elements, and how he created a ruckus outside the Prime Minister’s office, shows that this is indeed a political stunt.”
Regarding “Vande Mataram,” Khatana added, “Millions drew energy and inspiration from ‘Vande Mataram.’ During the freedom struggle against the British, when mothers sacrificed their young sons for independence, ‘Vande Mataram’ was their final slogan and the song on their lips.”
