NCB Arrests Four Drug Traffickers in Mizoram with Over ₹31 Crore Worth of Narcotics

Aizawl, March 5: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking along the international border, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested four traffickers in Mizoram with narcotics valued at over ₹31 crore.

According to NCB officials, three coordinated operations were conducted in different locations within the border area. During these operations, a total of 36.434 kilograms of methamphetamine and 905 grams of heroin were seized. The estimated international market value of the confiscated drugs is around ₹31 crore.

Officials stated that the operation was based on intelligence inputs. It was carried out in collaboration with the Special Investigation Branch (SIB) of Mizoram and the state’s Excise and Narcotics Department. Suspects were apprehended while monitoring the activities of the traffickers. Among those arrested is a Myanmar national, bringing the total number of detainees to four. All suspects are currently being interrogated to identify others involved in this trafficking network.

Investigative agencies believe that Mizoram and the northeastern region are being exploited by international drug syndicates for trafficking purposes. Large quantities of narcotics are reportedly being smuggled into India through border areas adjacent to Myanmar, prompting security agencies to conduct ongoing operations to curb this illegal activity.

The NCB has hailed this operation as a significant success in the fight against drugs. The agency stated that various central and state agencies are collaborating to combat drug trafficking. Additionally, the NCB has urged the public to report any narcotics-related activities by calling the “Mannas Helpline” toll-free number 1933. The agency assured that the identity of the informants would be kept completely confidential.

NCB officials emphasized that their team is always prepared to prevent drug trafficking. As soon as any information is received, they swiftly set up a blockade to make arrests. This is not the first time such operations have led to the apprehension of drug traffickers.
