Nationwide Vande Mataram Camps to be Held Under My India Campaign

New Delhi, June 23: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India will organize ‘Vande Mataram’ camps across the country through the ‘My India’ campaign. The first camp will take place in Kolkata, West Bengal, from June 24 to June 30, 2026, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. This initiative aims to strengthen national unity, constitutional values, and youth leadership.

These seven-day residential camps are designed to provide youth with a deeper understanding of India’s constitutional and democratic traditions while promoting cultural confidence and civic responsibility. The camps align with the vision of a developed India by 2047, nurturing a generation of informed, responsible, and nation-oriented youth leaders.

Inspired by the spirit of ‘Vande Mataram,’ these camps symbolize reverence for the motherland and emotional integration beyond regional, linguistic, and social boundaries. The program aims to address contemporary youth concerns by promoting civic engagement, leadership development, digital literacy, social responsibility, and community participation.

A total of 20 camps will be organized in identified districts, each accommodating 150 participants aged 15 to 29. Each camp will feature representatives from six states, with mandatory representation from the Northeast, and at least 50% participation from women and socially disadvantaged groups. Approximately 3,000 youths will participate, covering topics from constitutional values and cultural exchange to leadership development and key government initiatives.

The week-long camps will include sessions on the historical significance of ‘Vande Mataram’ and its role in India’s freedom struggle, thematic discussions on the Constitution and civic duties, cultural exchanges through language, food, and sports, visits to historically significant sites, national dialogue sessions, impromptu speech workshops, and discussions on key government initiatives.

The ‘Vande Mataram’ camps reaffirm the ministry’s commitment to advancing ideals of unity, constitutional values, and nation-building by harnessing the energy, idealism, and creativity of India’s youth.
