Srinagar, July 1: Senior leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference met with party president Farooq Abdullah at his residence in Gupkar on Wednesday. The meeting focused on finalizing preparations for the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
It was decided that formal invitations would be sent to all constituent parties of the INDIA alliance, as well as other political parties in Jammu and Kashmir, to participate in the protest. Additionally, invitations will also be extended to political parties not part of the INDIA alliance but not affiliated with the NDA.
Formal invitation letters will be dispatched to all political parties, and Farooq Abdullah will personally write to the relevant leaders, inviting them to join the protest.
This initiative comes shortly after Farooq Abdullah stated that the party would not beg anyone to join the movement. He emphasized that anyone wishing to participate is welcome to come forward; the party will not approach anyone directly.
He also reiterated that the National Conference has been fighting for the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir and plans to hold the protest in Delhi.
The National Conference has announced that the protest at Jantar Mantar will take place on the first day of the Parliament’s monsoon session, demanding the restoration of statehood and constitutional rights.
The party has made it clear that it will continue its movement on this issue and will raise its demands through democratic means.
Regarding the possibility of Jammu and Kashmir regaining its special status, Abdullah remarked, “I am not God. Only Allah knows, along with those in power in Delhi.” He affirmed that the party is committed to fighting for the restoration of special status, asserting their constitutional right to protest against the rights that have been taken away from them.
