New Delhi, May 30: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Myanmar’s President U Min Aung Hlaing is arriving in India today for a five-day official visit, starting from Bodh Gaya in Bihar.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), President U Min Aung Hlaing will engage in discussions with Prime Minister Modi on June 1 to strengthen the ties between the two nations. This marks his first visit to India since taking office.
During his trip, U Min Aung Hlaing will also participate in a business forum. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including several cabinet ministers, senior officials, and leaders from the business sector. On June 2, he is scheduled to visit Mumbai for discussions related to business and industry, along with site visits.
The MEA’s statement highlighted that Myanmar is positioned at the confluence of India’s “Neighborhood First,” “Act East,” and “Ocean” policies. The official visit of President U Min Aung Hlaing is expected to further deepen and strengthen the multifaceted relations between the two countries.

In April, Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, visited Myanmar to attend U Min Aung Hlaing’s swearing-in ceremony. He met with U Min Aung Hlaing on April 10 and delivered a congratulatory letter from Prime Minister Modi.
Following their meeting, Muraleedharan posted on social media that he had met U Min Aung Hlaing on his first day in office as Myanmar’s President and handed over a letter of congratulations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
