
Mumbai, April 5: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Mumbai police have achieved a major success in their ongoing campaign against narcotics. Over the first two months of 2026, from January 1 to February 28, the police registered 158 cases and arrested 202 individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
According to police reports, more than 106 kilograms of narcotics were seized during this period, with an estimated market value of around ₹30 crore. The operation led to the confiscation of various types of drugs.
In heroin-related cases, six were registered, resulting in the arrest of eight suspects and the recovery of heroin worth ₹59.58 lakh. In the case of cannabis, police filed eight cases, arrested 11 individuals, and seized approximately ₹3.15 crore worth of the substance. The most significant action was taken against ganja trafficking, with 84 cases filed and 88 arrests made, leading to the recovery of 92.77 kilograms of ganja valued at about ₹3.83 crore.
Additionally, there was a substantial crackdown on synthetic drugs, with police registering 52 cases, arresting 84 suspects, and seizing 9 kilograms of MD worth around ₹18.84 crore. In cocaine cases, three were registered, resulting in four arrests and the recovery of 43 grams of cocaine valued at ₹4.25 crore.
Mumbai police have made it clear that their campaign against drugs will continue. They are committed to taking stringent measures to eradicate the narcotics network in the city.
