
Mumbai, April 5: The Mumbai Police have successfully recovered a significant number of stolen and lost mobile phones through a well-organized operation. They have returned these devices to their rightful owners.
Under a special operation conducted by the Zone-3 team of the Mumbai Police Commissionerate, a total of 1,541 stolen and lost mobile phones were traced in recent months. The estimated value of these phones is approximately ₹3.37 crore. The police held a special event to return all recovered phones and other items to their original owners, visibly bringing joy and satisfaction to the faces of the recipients.
According to police reports, various police stations in Zone-3 collectively recovered 662 mobile phones over the past three months, valued at around ₹1.35 crore. The operation involved crucial contributions from the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, the Cyber Cell, and the Detection Branch. Additionally, other valuable items worth approximately ₹30.54 lakh were also recovered. During the event held on Saturday, a total of ₹1.66 crore worth of property was returned to citizens.
The role of different police stations within Zone-3 was noteworthy in this operation. The Nagpada Police Station led the way with the recovery of 139 mobile phones, followed by the Worli Police Station with 108, the Tardeo Police Station with 105, and the NM Joshi Marg Police Station with 104. Both the Agripada and Byculla Police Stations each recovered 103 mobile phones.
This entire operation was spearheaded under the guidance of DCP Krishnakant Upadhyay, who has overseen three major recovery drives to date. Through these initiatives, the police have not only showcased an excellent example of technology and coordination but have also strengthened public trust.
